Our trip to Kandy was not complete without a visit to the statue of Lord Buddha standing high above the city, facing the Temple of the Tooth. This statue stands 88 feet high and commands a spectacular view across Kandy Lake to the distant mountains.
From here we descended to lake level and in the cooling evening air walked around its circumference, a walk of about 45 minutes.
We rounded off the day by taking in a cultural dance performance. Given its popularity and the number of centres offering cultural dance performances, it is clearly a very touristy thing to do.
